Star-Studded World Premiere for "Romeo Must Die"
LOS ANGELES, California - March 20, 2000 It was classic Hollywood. Stars walked down the plush red carpet illuminated by flood lights, the press was there in full force, camera strobes flashing with blinding speed and
adoring fans cheering. It was a perfect night for Jet Li's debut in his first English language starring role as Han, in Warner Brother's "Romeo Must Die." Keanu Reeves, Magic Johnson, Jim Belushi, Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds, producers Joel Silver and Jim Van Wyck, and many more joined the cast at the premiere at the Mann's Village Theater in Westwood, California. Keanu lumbered across the red carpet, towering Magic
Johnson mingled, and Russell Wong lingered chatting wtith us before disappearing into the theater. After all, this is perhaps Russell's best performance yet. His charisma burns through the screen as you watch the beads of sweat drippping from his outrageously handsome face and his muscles ripple as he spars with Jet in one of the best martial arts scenes in the movie. Russell says hi to all AsianConnections members! Russell says hi to AsianConnections members!

The most poignant moment was the appearance of late legend Bruce Lee's widow
Linda Lee Cadwell and her daughter...Bruce's daughter, actress Shannon Lee. Linda and daughter Shannon share their thoughts with AC Team members Mike Kai and Allen Ying. Lee Cadwell said, "I think Bruce would be very proud and happy that this occasion is taking place 27 years after he passed away, because he really did create a genre of
action film. And I think he's given the opportunity to many young, talented Chinese martial artists and actors to display their talents, and to show the beauty of Chinese culture to the world. I think he'd be real happy and proud of Jet." Linda Lee Cadwell talks about her late husband Bruce Lee

Students from the nearby UCLA campus yelled, "We love you!"
as Jet beamed and waved to the crowds. Jet was in his usual top
form, perfectly articulate and comfortable in English with the western
press, and of course, in Mandarin
with Asian ACTV reporter Michelle Lo.
