The city of Xian, best known for its army of terracotta soldiers discovered in the late '70s, is more than 2000 years old. Sitting on the eastern edge of the Silk Road, Xian is the ancient Chinese capital of Chang An and home to a large number of China's Muslim Hui minority. In addition to the Tomb of the Terracotta Soldiers, Xian boasts many interesting sights, the most compelling of which are part of our weekend.

Visa Information
Valid visas are required for virtually everyone who travels to China, and those who arrive in China without a visa may be fined at the port of entry and may not be allowed to enter the country. Visas are readily available through Chinese consulates and embassies in most Western countries. In addition, visas are easy to obtain in Hong Kong. The standard 30-day visa can be obtained from the Visa Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC in the China Resources Building, Wanchai (2585-1794 or 2585-1700). They are also available through CITS and many travel agents in Hong Kong. Although same-day turnaround is possible, the price goes up significantly.
