Team: Nancy, congratulations on making it through the ten non-stop
days of the Miss California 2000!
Since
you've spent alot of time recently with the new reigning Miss California
can you tell us about her?
Nancy
Bui: Rita
is a phenomenal woman. She's 22, just graduated from Stanford University
two weeks ago, summa cum laude with a 3.99 grade point average.
She will be studying at University of California San Francisco's
Medical school when her year as Miss California is over. She is
an awesome role model.
She
was not competitive at all with the other contestants. She won her
night of talent. (Each night three contestants showcased their talent
portion of the competition)
When
she won the talent portion for that evening's performance, all she
could say was that, "I don't deserve this!" I thought she
was great, playing the piano at a level of a concert level pianist.
She was supportive of everyone at the pageant, and among all the
women I thought she was the most gracious. I am ecstatic that she
won. I know that Rita will represent the Miss California organization
wonderfully at the upcoming Miss America pageant in Atlanta this
October.
