Secret World of the Forbidden City
AsianConnections.com
is pleased to offer to our members an exciting glimpse of rare,
never before seen treasures from the storeroom vaults of Beijing's
Palace Museum - the former Forbidden City.
Many
of these treasures have never been publicly displayed inside or
outside of China.
AsianConnections.com's
online art gallery showcases just a few of the extraordinary rare
items in this exhibition.
This is the
largest loan ever of cultural treasures from the Imperial Palace,
Beijing. The exhibition showcases fine precious possessions of the
Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), portraitures of the Emperors and their
courtiers, exceptionally crafted precious metals, jade and gems,
ceramics, furniture, and embroidered robes and jewelry.
The exhibition
was arranged into eight themes ranging from the Throne Room, Emperor's
Bedroom, to Imperial Dress and Arms and Armor of the Emperor.
This
rare exhibition traveled to the United States in 2000.
