Read on for previous features about Esther!:

I first met Esther during one of her toy drive events. Here she was raising money and toys for the needy children in the San Franciscio Bay area community. During this time I got to know her better and realized that beyond getting blinded by her beauty, she is truly a remarkable person. While she works hard in her career goals, she is also taking time to reach out to help others.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a celebrity? Unlike most well known personalities in today's society, Esther Hwang's rise to fame was not influenced by personal aspirations for stardom but rather to serve as an example that one person can make a difference.  One ordinary day marked the beginning of Esther's road to fame:

These words normally come to mind for almost all of us as we prepare to embark upon a new day. The same can be true for Esther growing up in the suburbs of Los Angeles. However there are moments in one's life when fate comes into play and a golden opportunity presents itself like a bolt of lightning. Such an event happened to Esther at a store when a talent agent for a local modeling agency discovered her. It was during this chance encounter that Esther's life was forever changed.

Esther's introduction into modeling at a young age was only a catalyst for bigger and better things to come. Following in the footsteps of her mother, a beauty pageant winner, Esther would soon enter the world of beauty pageantry and win a long list of titles from Miss San Francisco to Miss Asian America.

Unlike some individuals who find themselves caught up in the glamour of the spotlight, Esther still understood the value of a good education. It comes with the realization that beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder and that for most things in life, passes like that of the changing seasons. All people are beautiful in their own way but it is the mind that truly makes us unique. Having to balance the demands of both her career and schooling was difficult for Esther but was well worth the sacrifice. Esther received a full scholarship and holds two degrees in English Literature and Asian American studies from the University of California, Berkeley. It also serves as a lesson never to underestimate the power of the human spirit.

For someone in Esther's position, one might be content with pursuing one enterprise but not for this Korean-American beauty. After graduating from college, Esther braved new waters yet again by venturing into San Francisco's local government where she provided executive support to the office of Mayor Willie Brown, jr. from 1998 to 1999 and later as spokeswoman for the San Francisco Department of Public Works from 1999 to 2000. During these years Esther still remained devoted to her modeling career and managed to expand into the field of acting and filmmaking.

Despite the satisfaction Esther achieved from working in politics, she felt that there were still more uncharted territories that called out to her. It was with a heavy heart that Esther decided to take her leave from public service and answer the calling that beckoned out to her. The arrival of a New Millennium played a significant role in Esther's life since it symbolized her entry into the performing arts. Like so many engaged in the craft, Esther had to continuously prove herself with every single role that came her way. After months of hard work her big break finally arrived in the form of Prodigy Entertainment's feature film, "Sleeping with the Lion" where Esther was offered a role in the movie. In addition, she will also share her creative input off the camera by serving as the film's Associate Producer. Esther is excited with her character and thrilled to be a contributing force to the producers of "Sleeping with the Lion." Esther hopes that her involvement with Prodigy Entertainment will be a productive outing for both herself and for the people behind the creation of the film.

So what is Esther Hwang doing these days other than modeling and her responsibilities with "Sleeping with the Lion?" The answer is simple, plenty! Esther has recently signed an exclusive three-year contract with RML Productions to produce her hot new line of swimsuit calendars here in the United States. Currently Esther is directly involved with the management of her own website Esther.com that promises to provide all her fans with tons of new features, stories and news. In addition, Esther stills finds time to actively support her two favorite charities: The Esther.com Annual Toy Drive and the ASPCA that are featured at her website.

You might be asking yourself how one person could accomplish all of this? But then again we are not talking about just any ordinary individual. Esther represents some of the best qualities in humanity: Beauty, intelligence, compassion, devotion, and kindness. In an industry filled with people concerned with their own personal motives, Esther instead wants to use her successes not to further her ambitions but to share with others the experiences of her life in the hope that it might benefit those in pursuit of their dreams. Can one person make a difference? If her story has inspired you in any way then you will know the answer . . .
