Welcoming the Year of the Snake
by Angi Ma Wong

The Year of the Snake can be a great year for you in your business and personal life, but you must pay special attention to details. The Snake is the most negative or Yin force of the 12 - year cycle, so you have to watch out to avoid that negative force!

I have listed some tips below on how to have a great year during The Year of the Snake. Also, I will be adding more tips throughout the year. This will be one unpredictable year!

The Snake rules during the hours between 9 a.m. to 11a.m.; the compass directions of S/SE, the season of spring, month of May, is a fire element, Yin, and corresponds to Taurus.

The Chinese Lunar New Year of the Snake 4699 begins on January 24, 2001. The Snake is the 6th animal in the Chinese zodiac. It follows the Year of the Dragon which is the most Yang.

SNAKE YEAR HIGHLIGHTS:
Snake years are always surprising, unpredictable, and never calm perhaps because many disasters that started brewing during the last year, manifest themselves at this time. Scandals, romance, trade, commerce, and scientific and technological advances feature prominently. Fashions will be fluid and sophisticated.

It is a great year for your personal life for passion, romance and courtship. But, even though you may be sweeped off your feet, stay grounded in reality.

It is a great year to do business, but like the previous year of the Dragon, you must do your homework before embarking on your new projects in order to achieve success.

Do take care, as you should in all due diligence on your projects. Move ahead with great caution, and take on business ventures that avoid too much risk, speculation and especially gambling.

Dig beneath the surface and don't take things at face value. It may not be what they appear to be after you check deeply. The Year of the Snake is a good year for you to search for answers, finding and confirming your values and then making decisive plans. After you've made your deliberations, due diligence, and planning, don't be wishy-washy. Strike out and take action with strong, sure measures.

SNAKE YEAR FENG SHUI TIP:
Study your Feng Shui principals to avoid receiving negative energy from the Year of the Snake. If you are just starting out in learning about Feng Shui, check out the many Feng Shui articles and books on the market, and from the Feng Shui authors and writers here at AsianConnections.com.

In the Year of the Snake, negative energy from The Three Afflictions occur in the S/SE, E and in SW.

In any of these directions, avoid renovation, construction or demolition, especially in the SW.

Hang a five-rod, pagoda style windchime to mitigate the troubles that will come from the 5 Yellows in the SW, lots of metal in the E and SE, and water in the S.

AsianConnections.com will be posting more helpful tips throughout the Year of the Snake.
