Symbolism and Feng Shui
Of course, in
the smaller scale the Chinese people love to fill their homes with
SYMBOLS that convey the message of Good Fortune. Although this is
more customary in practice, in recent years, many people have classified
this as a practice of Feng Shui.
Strictly speaking,
this is not real Feng Shui, because they do not involve the study
of time, space and the environment. However, because they have been
known to have profound effects on people's lives, many Masters today
call it Feng Shui symbolism.
All symbolism
in Feng Shui are motifs that depict good fortune. They can cause
no harm and perhaps no real effect on the energies of the environment.
But they have profound effect on a person's psychological state.
The most powerful chi is the chi generated by the thoughts of the
individual.
When you are
symbolically reminded of good fortune everyday in your home, YOU
WILL ENCOUNTER GOOD FORTUNE! Just like how positive thoughts create
positive actions. Auspicious Symbology create auspicious outcomes
for the household, because the positive messages (in pictorial representations)
are more powerful than positive thoughts (which are often in words).
Symbology in
Feng Shui can be applied with ease after some simple understanding
of the basics. Once you understand the basics, you can immediately
apply Feng Shui symbology into your life. The Chinese Culture has
long viewed certain symbols as harbingers of Good Fortune, Money
Luck, Protection, Safety, Harmony, Happiness and Prosperity. This
symbolism can come in the form of paintings, figurines and carvings.
And of recent, these practices have spread to western countries.
For instance,
many Western friends love the idea of having a large figurine of
the Happy Buddha, Matreiya, in their living room, because it symbolizes
ultimate Happiness and Prosperity. And guess what? More happiness
and prosperity DID ENTER their lives! For the last five years of
so, the effects of Feng Shui symbolism have been evident and life
enriching. Many westerners have incorporated this new custom in
their lives and into their homes with great success. Many authors
have written extensively on the subject to further give light to
the practice of Feng Shui symbolism in Asia.
