Hari Raya Puasa
This month long festival is celebrated by
the Muslims signaling the end of the fasting season
of Ramadan. The Muslims will begin the holiday
by visiting the local mosque to offer traditional
Hari Raya Puasa prayers. The worshippers will
then proceed to their ancestor's graves to honor
past family members. This is truly a family holiday
when open invitations are given, welcoming family
and friends to thoroughly cleaned homes.

Deepavali
Deepvali is the Singapore festival marking
the beginning of the Indian New Year. As the legend
goes, this festival commemorates the slaying of
the evil Narakasura by Lord Krishna. On this day,
debts are settled and oil lamps are lit to guide
the souls of their ancestors whom they believe
to descend onto Earth for the holiday. Visits
by family and friends are welcome and encouraged.
