Highlights of the Committee of 100 11th Anniversary Conference

Celebrities and Business titans joined forces to discuss issues affecting our Asian global community. Committee of 100, a national, non-politically aligned organization met in Los Angeles to honor leaders in Entertainment and Technology.

AsianConnections brought our broadcast news team led by our own legendary interviewer, ten time Emmy award-winner Mario Machado, to bring to you exclusive online video interviews and highlights of the conference, from thought-provoking comments from Yahoo!'s Jerry Yang to Hollywood mogul Christopher Lee.

Pioneer broadcast television news journalist Bill Moyers gave a moving speech on the lack of historical documentation of the history of Chinese in America. Moyers is busy working on a new documentary series on Chinese Americans. Moyers said, "No matter how powerful we are --- no matter how rich or successful or celebrated -- we will never be truly heard, until our ancestors have spoken. I want this series to give them their voice back."

Committee of 100's Conference Chair Matthew Fong opened the session by urging the attendees to, "re-think, re-shape, or reform what you are doing today." Fong said, "Not only take time to celebrate who we are, but to challenge each other into what we can become."

Conference Co-Chair Janet Yang, executive director of the acclaimed motion picture "Joy Luck Club," brought together the co-stars of this ground-breaking movie. It was one of those rare occasions where you could meet Dr. Pehong Chen, Chairman of Broadvision; Dr. Raymond Ch'ien, Chairman of China.com; Tom Yuen, Chairman of SRS Labs; Ms. Lisa Ling, co-host of ABC-TV's "The View;" and Ming-Na, actress "Joy Luck Club" - literally all in one room. And they were just a few of the distinguished attendees.
