Movie Superstar Andy Lau at the 23rd AAIFF (continued)
Lau has worked with such prominent directors as Wong Kar Wai,
Johnnie To, Ringo Lam, Lawrence Ah Mon, Ann Hui and Derek Yee. In
recent years, Lau has also begun producing movies including the acclaimed
independent films "Made In Hong Kong" and "The Longest Summer." In
1995, he received a special MTV Movie Award for Most Outstanding Asian
Actor. Earlier this year, Lau reached a career milestone when he was
awarded his first Hong Kong Film Award for Best Actor for his performance
as a dying criminal in the acclaimed thriller "Running Out of Time,"
directed by Johnnie To, winner of this year's Hong Kong Film Award
for Best Director.

First Time Is the Last Time," "God of Gamblers," "A Moment of Romance,"
"Days of Being Wild," "Lee Rock," "Savior of the Soul," "Full Throttle,"

In addition to acting, Lau is also an equally accomplished
singer/songwriter and has sold over 35 million records. He has performed
in front of sold-out crowds in Hong Kong, China, Japan, Taiwan,
America and Canada. In 1995 and 1996, he received Billboard's Most
Outstanding Asian Artist Award.

American films will be this year's Hong Kong Best Actor, Andy Lau.
The Festival is thrilled to provide the opportunity to introduce
this incredibly talented performer to American audiences."
Asian CineVision and the AAIFF have a great history of showcasing
Hong Kong talent. Past guests have included Jackie Chan, Michelle
Yeoh and Sammo Hung.

based in New York, founded the AAIFF in 1978, the world's first
and longest running showcase of Asian/Asian American cinema. The
AAIFF has premiered the works of such major filmmakers as Ang Lee,
Wayne Wang, Mira Nair, Christine Choy, Kayo Hatta, Tsui Hark and
Oscar-winning artists like Steven Okazaki, Freida Lee Mock, Jessica
Yu, Chris Tashima and Keiko Ibi.
