 
Guilin,
and the region surrounding it, is home to China's fabled and magnificently
stunning limestone pinnacles. Most often when one sees pictures
of China, they are of the fog-enshrouded, strangely-shaped, almost
spooky karst mountains near Guilin.
For two days we will explore the laid-back village of Yangshuo,
including a river cruise, a bustling market town and bicycling in
the surrounding countryside, where we will enjoy wonderful views
of the unique scenery. No one ever leaves this region of China disappointed.
 Visa
Information
Valid visas are required for virtually everyone who travels
to China, and those who arrive in China without a visa may be fined
at the port of entry and may not be allowed to enter the country.
Visas are readily available through Chinese consulates and embassies
in most Western countries. In addition, visas are easy to obtain
in Hong Kong. The standard 30-day visa can be obtained from the
Visa Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC in the
China Resources Building, Wanchai (2585-1794 or 2585-1700). They
are also available through CITS and many travel agents in Hong Kong.
Although same-day turnaround is possible, the price goes up significantly.
Leaves Hong Kong: Approximately 7:00 pm Fridays
Returns to Hong Kong: Approximately 10:30 pm Sundays
Early evening flight from Hong Kong to Guilin. Minivan transfer
to small village of Yangshuo (1-1/2 hours away). Overnight in Yangshuo.
 Breakfast
at hotel. Pickup by local guide for a day spent exploring the surrounding
countryside by bicycle. Visit famous local sights and learn about
the lives of the local farmers. Lunch at our local guides' home
and cross the river by handmade raft. Dinner at local restaurant
and overnight in Yangshuo. [Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner]
Breakfast at hotel. Take minivan to the market town of Fuli. Visit
local market and wander through the small village. Lunch at local
restaurant. Minivan to nearby town of Xingping, where we will take
a boat up the Li River to Yangdi, passing incredible scenery along
the way. Minivan transfer from Yangdi to Guilin. Dinner in Guilin.
Evening flight to Hong Kong.
