Lucy's Exclusive Interview with AC Team's Nancy Bui

Jim Ferguson: Lucy, it's so good to see you, and a big congratulations. What a great job in "Charlie's Angels." Would you start by tossing your hair.

Lucy Liu: I have to get paid for that. It's in my contract!

Jim Ferguson: Is it in your contract? Oh you do that so beautifully.

Liu: Oh thanks. (Laughter) It's a talent I've been working on for years.

Ferguson: (Laughter) You have to really work on that, don't you? I was a big fan of the TV series, and I think I'm going to be typical, I love the film. I'm sure that those people who, like myself, enjoyed the TV series are going to like the film as well.

Liu: It's good to hear that, because a lot of people who are trying to compare the television show with the film, and I think after they saw the film they sort of realized that it's just completely different. But we obviously pay an homage to the TV show, without taking anything from it.

Ferguson: There's just so much going on in this movie. It doesn't stop. It's fast paced, it looks good, do you know what I mean? And what I loved about the film is the humor!

Liu: Yes, there's a lot of that. I think during the entire film that's the undercurrent, to keep it fast paced and to keep people smiling and for them to just be really happy when they leave the theater and to have fun. It's a good time, that's all it is.

Ferguson: Ten word answers. Does your character Alex like to cook?

Liu: Oh, she loves to cook!

Ferguson: And we're going to find that out when we see the movie. Belly dance.

Liu:
I like to belly dance. I don't know what I'm doing. I think that's all, I can't say anymore. That's ten words.

Ferguson: And lastly, to yodel.

Liu: Yodelling is an art form. I haven't mastered that at all. (Laughter)

Ferguson: There's a line, and they are going to appreciate this on AsianConnections.com, that your character says, "It's amazing what you can learn on the Internet."

Liu: It's true. It is amazing how much you can learn on the Internet. The Internet is an incredibly fast paced way of communicating and to receive knowledge, and to understand information, news and everything. It's the most up-to-date way of living your life right now.

Ferguson: And AsianConnections.com is more than just entertainment, there's all sorts of things as far as shopping and employment opportunities. Do you know what I mean?

Liu:
I guess so. I'm always really shocked at how much you can get done through the Internet, so I wouldn't be surprised.

Ferguson: Do you see more opportunities now for young Asian actors and actresses?

Liu: I do. I think there's a lot more opportunity now. I think there could be more. I think it's a slow sort of crescendo to what hopefully it will become. But it takes time for everything.

Ferguson: Takes time and hard work.

Liu: Hard work for sure.

Ferguson: And you put a lot of hard work into this. The physical is unbelievable. The martial arts.

I want to thank you so much. It's nice seeing you again. I highly recommend that you see "Charlie's Angels," you're going to really have a good time.

Liu: Oh, I'm glad, I'm so glad you got it. Thank you!
