Early in September, three weeks before the first preview, I am in the rehearsal studio at 890 Broadway for a run thru of "A Hundred Million Miracles," "You Are Beautiful," "Grant Avenue" and "Fan Tan Fannie." For the cast it was show and tell, for me it was an exhilarating experience to hear some of my favorite songs and see the show come to life once more. On October 17th, outside the Virginia Theatre, lion dancers chased the evil spirits away to beat of drummers in traditional Chinese fashion for the opening night performance. Castmembers were ecstatic at the curtain call and then we all headed to the Marriot Marquis to eat, party and dance the night away.

The cast went into the Clinton Recording studio four days after opening night to lay down the tracks for the Flower Drum Song cast album due out January 2003.
